The Valuepack Carbon Reduction Programme
The Valuepack Carbon Reduction Programme assists Valuepack members in reducing their carbon emissions whilst generating added value for the member through energy savings, enhanced environmental performance and reputation, positive PR and the engagement and motivation of staff.
From 2010, the Valuepack scheme will contribute a proportion of PRN levy, commensurate with a member’s obligation, to funding carbon reduction measures. This will provide for the reduction of scheme members’ carbon footprints through:
- Investment in clean energy projects in the UK and overseas
- Investment in tree-planting initiatives
- Investment in on-site carbon reduction, either as direct investment in energy efficiency, or through the funding of feasibility studies / cost-benefit analyses to assist in the development and implementation of member carbon reduction programmes.
Funding through the Programme is available to all full members of the Valuepack scheme, from those with smaller obligations under the Regulations which may wish to invest in tree planting initiatives, to those companies making provision for the development of in-house measures to monitor and reduce energy use and C02 production.
By making the level of funding available proportional to a member’s obligation under the packaging regulations, Valuepack ensures that resources are targeted at those businesses which, through the measures identified above, are likely to deliver a greater reduction in energy use and / or the net emissions associated with their activities. The scheme will work with individual members to establish the most beneficial use of the funds allocated to it.
ValuePack’s Carbon Reduction Programme recognises the environmental impacts associated with scheme and member activities and assists members in the development and fulfilment of their corporate social responsibility agendas. Investment will be fully auditable and undertaken through organisations recognised in this field.
