About Valuepack

Valuepack is an independent packaging waste compliance scheme, accredited by the Environment Agency and established in 2004. The scheme meets its members’ obligations under the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007 (as amended). More information on these regulations can be found here.

Valuepack’s approach ensures the execution of its members’ obligations under the regulations at the lowest possible cost, whilst maximising the value member companies derive from the process of compliance. This is achieved through minimising scheme overhead, an intelligent and flexible approach to the Packaging Recovery Note (PRN) market place and the provision of additional, related benefits as part of the scheme’s standard service. Valuepack’s Carbon Reduction Programme is a reflection of this philosophy. From 2010, the scheme will commit a proportion of PRN revenue to reducing its members’ carbon footprints. This will entail investment in carbon off-set projects, tree planting or the funding of member in-house initiatives to reduce energy use.

Valuepack & the Environment

Valuepack recognises the impact on the environment of its own activities and those of its members. In recognition of this concern, from 2010 Valuepack itself will be Carbon Neutral and the scheme will seek to assist its members in this regard through its Carbon Reduction Programme.

We also endeavour to minimise employee travel through telephone / web conferencing and are committed to maintaining an informative and up to date website which addresses member and prospective member concerns in relation to the regulations.

However, we also recognise that it is critical for us to have a detailed understanding of the business activities of our members, and we therefore commit to meeting member company representatives at their premises on at least one occasion during the registration year. For new members this will also entail a review of site operations and associated packaging activities.
